HOUT BAY SEWAGE SPILL INTO HARBOUR

  |   Fishing

Dear Stakeholder

We would like to advise that the factory management have noted that the ocean had presence of a foreign discharge in close vicinity to the factory. This initiated an immediate investigation with the factory management escalating the matter to the Harbour Master and the City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation as well as the Air Quality Departments.

We have received communication  via the City of Cape Town’s Reticulation Branch, Water and Sanitation Department stakeholders  that the matter was reported to them by their operational staff at 6:00 today morning. Upon inspection it was found that an electrical supply kiosk belonging to City electrical had caught fire and this  has affected the sewage  pump station and also some of the surrounding houses and businesses. The City electrical were informed and they have sent a generator to the site which is in the process of being connected.

We will revert with further details once we have confirmation that the above mentioned temporary corrective action has been implemented by the relevant department which is also busy with repairs to the electrical supply.

Kind regards

Hout Bay Factory Management
